Joanna Masel is the Head of Science at WeHealth. She ensures scientific accuracy across all aspects of the company, chooses speakers and topics for a monthly webinar on the Science of Pandemic Tech, and leads research efforts on risk assessment and associated testing and quarantine regimes for COVID-19 and other airborne infections.
Joanna is a mathematical modeler and data scientist whose pre-pandemic research was mostly in the field of evolutionary biology, but who had also published in the fields of infectious disease, biochemistry, aging, economics, and education. As a Professor at the University of Arizona, she teaches an inquiry-based undergraduate course in Evidence-Based Medicine, and a graduate course on mathematical modeling. Joanna is also the author of "Bypass Wall Street: A Biologist's Guide to the Rat Race".
