WeHealth Exposure Notification App Launches in Bermuda

After Successful Pilot, WeHealth Bermuda Now Available for all Residents and Visitors

Recently, the Ministry of Health in Bermuda announced a pilot test of WeHealth Bermuda, an app built and customized for the country that provides anonymous COVID-19 exposure notifications.

Following the successful pilot and testing period conducted since the app became available in Apple’s App store and Google Play, the app is officially launching and will begin to operate with fully-functional push notifications to users to help fight the spread of COVID-19.

The tests, conducted to mimic  real-life scenarios with acquaintances and strangers passing in contact, were successful in notifying the appropriate devices based on the proximity and length of time in contact. Based on the results, the WeHealth Bermuda app is now fully functional for public use, and those who test positive for COVID-19 can anonymously notify others through the app.

So far over 4,000 Bermuda residents and visitors have downloaded the WeHealth Bermuda app, which helps expand the government’s ability to trace potential exposures and expedite efforts to slow the spread of the virus.

In a news conference speaking on the test, Bermuda’s Premier David Burt said, “WeHealth Bermuda is designed to help slow the spread of COVID-19 by notifying app users of potential exposure to COVID-19. It is one of the most sophisticated apps available anywhere in the world for helping to control and minimize the spread of COVID-19.”

“We are thrilled that Bermuda’s pilot was successful and that we are able to begin to help that nation through our exposure notification system, especially as cases begin to rise,” said Sameer Halai, CEO of WeHealth. “We look forward to continuing to advance our capabilities with Bermuda through the technology solutions we provide without veering away from our deep commitment to privacy.”
