AI at Wehealth

AI brings new challenges as well as opportunities to fight disinformation and drive public engagement.

Wehealth is a nationwide platform that monitors verified sources for public health and safety information and sends enhanced alerts in 50+ languages. The system is already live and sends CDC and NWS alerts in all 3,000+ counties nationwide. The alerts are enhanced by domain experts, with the help of AI, to make them simple and actionable and to drive measurable outcomes. All information is fully translated in 50+ languages using human translation and safe AI workflows.

Wehealth is a Weather-Ready Nation (WRN) Ambassador™, an initiative of the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), to strengthen partnerships toward building community resilience in the face of increasing vulnerability to extreme weather events.

Reducing Disparity

The platform supports 50+ languages and all content updates get translated in near real-time making sure everyone has access to the best information. The information on the platform can also be accessed over phone and text and doesn't require a smartphone.

We innovate at the intersection of technology, user experience and science to bring the most benefit to all. Here's a demo of our research on using generative AI to reach people who speak languages other than English. Learn more.

Increasing Reach

Wehealth uses AI to transform information into multiple media formats. e.g. here's how an NWS alert looks as a video on social media

AI Safety Framework

Wehealth requires human review at every critical step of information transformation.
